Olivia Act Recipients 2013

I just can’t get over the submissions that came in for the Olivia Act . Stories of loving, incredibly hard-working and deserving families… each nomination brightened my day and stopped me in my tracks. Thank you so much to all those who self-lessly nominated friends and family members. I kept reading and re-reading all the stories and didn’t know how I was ever going to decide! If I could I’d gift a session to every single family submitted!

My hubs helped me make the final decision in the end…with an old baseball hat filled with tiny scraps of paper… yup. Pulled the names out of a hat. There was no other way for me to choose from all the nominations. 🙂 The two families that were randomly selected have been emailed with the good news 🙂 I hope it has made their 1st day of 2013 feel even more promising and exciting. Thank you again to all those who submitted nominations, I was truly touched by all the wonderful stories. This is the first of many years of participating in the Olivia Act for me.

Welcome 2013 and Happy New Year to all!

the next generation

I can finally post this picture of Ava, Charlie and their cousins… we finagled this picture way back in October to surprise Mike’s parents for a Christmas present this year…and I had to keep it a surprise until Christmas!!! Ugh! Don’t get me wrong, I love me a good surprise present but it was SO HARD to keep it a surprise! We got a beautiful 16×20 canvas of it for them and it was SUCH a hit.

So here it is, the picture of all six of the Reppucci grandchildren… six under the age of five here! (And this is the original image…no compositing here. Pats self on shoulder. Hee.) A wonderful gift for any grandparent…they absolutely LOVED it and were completely taken by surprise… success!

laughter & joy

Wishing everyone peace and joy this Christmas and in the coming year.

Here are our Christmas card pictures this year. Can’t tell you how many ‘sessions’ it took to get these… it finally took a little good ole fashioned candy bribery to get Ava to sit for a picture. Hey, you do what you gotta do!!

We tried to get one great picture of the two of them together but it just wasn’t meant to be! There’s always next year…

Merry Christmas everyone!

5 day old Crosby

This little man is the youngest of three gorgeous boys and could not have been more of a joy to photograph. Crosby and his big brothers came to visit me on his 5th day in this big, wide world.

My absolute favorite moment of a newborn session… is when I glance over at mom and see her gazing down at her brand new baby…this little miracle…with absolute wonder on her face. Its that exact moment… that’s what this is all about for me. Parents being able to take a little break from all the excitement & exhaustion of the first few weeks to just admire and adore this new little life. Such a special thing to be witness and such a special moment to capture!

Congratulations H family…enjoy your newest little man, he’s just beautiful!

the Olivia act 2013

The Olivia Act, named for one of the children killed in Newtown, was started by a photographer who wishes to be anonymous. Olivia’s family had a family portrait done a short time before she was killed. Those pictures are precious and now priceless to Olivia’s family. Upon hearing this, this photographer was moved to give away a 30 minute family photo shoot and has challenged other photographers to do the same. I recently had my own family’s portrait done for the very first time since my wedding!! (Shoemaker’s kids…) I will cherish the resulting images for the rest of our lives.

I will be taking nominations for 2 families who you think would appreciate this gift of memories. Each family will receive a free 30 minute family portrait session and a CD of the images, with full printing rights. The sessions will take place in the spring of 2013.

Email your nominations to lauren@laurenreppucci.com with the subject titled “Olivia Act” and include a brief message on who you’re nominating and why. Please include an email address for the family as I will contact them via email to let them know they’ve been selected. I’ll be taking nominations anytime between now (December 20th) and December 31st. The two families selected will be announced on my page and contacted on New Year’s Day!

Please SHARE this status so your friends and family will know too!

And fellow photographers, please think about participating in the Olivia act too. ♥ Thanks Liz, of Elizabeth Watsky Photography for letting me know about this wonderful idea.
